true grit

The love of my life demonstrating true grit while traveling home on bus 49 after seeing the Coen Brother's True Grit.  I adored Hailee Steinfeld, who doesn't seem to be getting the proper title as a leading actress but rather is being labeled a supporting actress, despite her being most of the movie. I guess you have to be old and gritty, or a middle aged man and sexy to be labeled a leading actor.  Ironically, it is Hailee Steinfeld's character that ends up having the most grit.

By the way, I love the 49. It services Downtown Seattle, Capitol Hill and the U-District. And ever since we moved to the North side of Capitol Hill and right across the street from a stop, not having a car has been much easier for us urbanites. Of course it helps to have the One Bus Away app for the iPhone.

small worlds

After a very enjoyable Indian dinner at Cedars in the University District with some friends we leaped (yes, leaped... giddily) over to Tully's on the Ave and played what turned out to be a very close game of Small Worlds. An approachable game that is all about ruling the land with the objective of making as much money as possible. You pick races that each have their own special traits, and each one is randomly modified by different special powers. I didn't grow up playing strategy games or anything like Risk, but over the years my hubby, is both a gamer and in the gaming industry has found clever ways to get me to play them. I find Small Worlds approachable, addictive, and fun, even though I always get my a$$ handed to me. And afterwards as we walked down the ave to our bus stop, Small Worlds in tow, we were stopped by several university students who recognized the large, colorful box.
As much as he wants to be her knight in shining armor, he is, however, just a frog.

By the way, this is no way evidence I have nothing to do. It's just that what I want to do is so much more fun than what I have to do.

A chunk of me.

Moments after editing this shot using Camerakit recommended by Koichi Mitsui, a Tokyo based professional photographer, I got the idea to create this blog.
A new year of light, friends, family and creativity.
Inspired by my sister-in-law I finally uploaded photo apps for the iPhone. We hung out at Neptune Coffee in the Greenwood neighborhood of Seattle and collaborated on a reading blog.
